Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and again in your oral boards and expecting different results. No matter how great your credentials, the oral board interview is for all of the marbles! If you can't do it at the interview, you don't get the job.
It's a great feeling to hear from a candidate that was stuck then immediately turn things around and catapult themselves into the Olympic camp to get a shot at a firefighter job. It's common for our candidates to improve their scores up to 15 points and get invited to the chief's orals. If this isn't happening in your career search, you might want to rethink your position.
Here's an example:
Dear Captain Bob, I used your tape and video program and now I have my first chiefs interview. I received your program only four days before my interview. I did what you said to do with my video camera and it worked. I got my letter that I passed the interview and figure well that was it. Well yesterday I received my letter for a chiefs interview for the City of Modesto. This is a new experience for me and I know I need to stay on that same pony, but is there anything I can do to prepare for it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Just some extra info for you. I had a CDF interview, recently and got the results back. I scored a 94. In the past I've been in the mid eighties. I recommend your program to anybody who is serious about being in the fire service. This is the best thing I ever had to prepare for a interview and will continue to use it.
