1. Quick Presentation Skills Tip
We knew it would happen sometime this week. A drum roll please: Captain Bob, I wanted to personally thank you, and your son for the program that you have put together. I purchased the program about a month ago, used the recorder and practiced, practiced, practiced. I have been working towards my dream of becoming a career firefighter/EMT for the past 9 years. I started as an explorer and moved on to a volunteer department. Until today when I was asked to go to a chiefs oral where I was offered a full time position. I feel like I am on top of the world right now and I have you, your son, and the people who have supported me along the way to thank for it. Thank you both, for what you do. Helping people achieve their dreams is something you both should be proud of. Sincerely, F.F. Kevin Wunderly Kevin, let me be one of the first to welcome you to the fire service. Bravo! Congrats on the success in gaining your badge after 9 years! Thank you for sharing your journey and letting us be part of your pursuit. We hereby bestow upon you badge number 2,500 in our program. You have proved once again that our program works. Kevin had our program for 1 month after testing for 9 years. Here’s what put Kevin over the top: http://www.eatstress.com/special_offer.htm New! Some of our products are now available with a payment plan. More Here: http://www.eatstress.com/special_offer.htm ========================================== Question: I was to be hired number one for a dept. then i took the psych test and failed. they said i was untruthful . sounded strange im pretty honest guy. dont underdstand it. how did i make such inconsistencys?? im afraid to do this again as most depts use this test. any suggestions on my grade? Reply: Candidates are more than surprised when I tell them that up to 40% fail the psychological evaluation. The goal is to be prepared for every step of the hiring process before you show up. No doing so can cause you to step on the landmines that could take you out. You have to pass the psych the first time out. What do you do if you have not passed a part of the medical or psych test? Pre-employment medical examinations must comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act and in California with the California Fair Employment Act Section 7294.0(d) of title 2 of the California Code of Regulations states: (2) Where the results of such medical examination would result in disqualification, an applicant or employee may submit independent medical opinions for consideration before a final determination on disqualification is made. What this states is that if you have not passed a medical or psychological test that was part of a medical, you should be given the chance to obtain a second opinion. Cities and agencies might not be aware of this law. Most people are unaware that they can appeal the decision. Candidates will say they don’t want to pursue this option because it might ruin any chance that this city might call them back in the future, or will cause problems applying to other agencies. Although the way to law is written, you can qualify for a list on an agency over and over again; UNDERSTAND that if you are eliminated from the process because of a medical or psychological test this agency will NEVER consider you again! The time to act is now! Even when you notify an agency requesting a second opinion don’t be surprised if they say they don’t do that. Well, they’re in direct violation of the law. Putting the law in writing like the California one above might make them change their minds. Just because you have the right to an appeal the agency might make you take legal action to make it happen. They have more time and money than you do. If you’re given the chance for a second opinion you will probably have to pay for it yourself. It’s not cheap. Don’t let them send you to another psychologist down the hall at the same psych agency to for another evaluation. If you pass the second psych evaluation don’t fall for the trap of the agency wanting a third psych doc look at both reports and pass final judgment. That’s not the way the law is written. Don’t be surprised if the hiring agency refuses to hire you even if you pass the second psych evaluation. Again they could cause you to take legal action to make it happen. Never sign a form on a retest with the psych agency you have been to before allowing them to release your original evaluation to anyone they want. In many areas there is only one psych doc doing the evaluations. Many candidates were sent to an agency from a fire department and have failed. Another department will offer them a job conditional on the medical including the psych. What do you think your chances are of passing the psych with the same doc? Duh. If you are in this situation request another agency even if you have to pay and travel to another city.

Bottom line getting a badge is all presentation skills! Most
everybody that continues in the process is told at every stage, “We will be
contacting you when and if you move on to the next phase”. Basically what they
are saying is, “Don’t call us, we’ll call you”. If every person that had a
question about the dates and their status in the test called, nothing would get
done in the rest of the admin office. The testing process can take an incredibly
long time, especially for those taking the test.
CAPTAIN ROB (Thank you) Too many candidates concentrate on specific traits they think or have been told promotional tests are designed to find and qualify candidates for promotion. They’re trying to get those boxes checked off on the rating sheet. If you’ve ever heard a candidates try to pull this off it sounds like a dog and pony show because in trying to ring the bell on the so called specific traits they lose site of who they really are. They make a better presentation with the education, experience and life experiences that is the corner stone of our promotional program and in the process get the boxes checked off too. It separates them from the other struggling candidates in their attempt to master the rating sheet. The proof is in the badge: Cap Bob, You can add another badge to your count. I ordered your promotional oral board CD and passed my oral interview with an 89. It put me number 2 on the Lieutenant’s list and I will be promoted on November 8. I used the information that you provided to prepare and went into the room with a great deal of confidence. As I answered the questions I saw the heads start to nod and I knew I had nailed it. Thanks for putting together a program to help get through a process that people generally don’t understand or know how to prepare for. A small investment in time and money pays huge dividends in the long run. Sincerely, Darrick Lundeen Wait! program visit Captain Bob, After four years of reading about the success stories of others getting badges, I got the call last week. I am 41 years old and felt like a little kid as the recruit Captain congratulated me with the final job offer. Yesterday, I was fitted for uniforms and given a recruit class date of 15 October. In addition, this city department is putting me through paramedic school. It is a dream come true for me and I thank God for your help and guidance through this hiring process. I have used your Gold program and purchased the private coaching and the difference was evident with the first interview of this year. Combing both programs together had me so prepared and tailored for interviews that on my hiring department I scored a 390/400. You are so right that every point does count in the final interview. By the way, I received two more additional offers and I was able to choose my top choice. I thank you and my wife does too, Tim M. Hi Captain Bob, I just wanted to say thanks for the help getting the badge. I'm happily on probation and working hard. I had been testing for three years straight, and never making the final cut. I bought your Gold Package earlier this year, and four months later I had three job offers all at once. I appreciate the advice and knowledge you passed along. Anyone who’s testing needs to have your program. A+++++. Thanks. Luke Captain Bob, My name is Ryan and I am currently a paid-on-call firefighter for the City of Utica (MI). A few months ago, after buying your program, you called and spoke to me about private coaching. I told you I thought I did well enough on the oral interview, because I followed your advice (played the part, RECORDED my answers, let my "true self" show, and provided "nuggets") Well, after being 9th on the original list, I got a call two weeks ago. I had a Chief's Oral last week, and today, I GOT THE CALL from the Dearborn (MI) Fire Department. The Chief told me I was a very good candidate, and offered me a conditional offer of employment. I accepted in 1.3 seconds. Now I have to take the doctor's physical/psych test. Luckily for me, I ordered your psych test prep program as well. I am confident that I will do well, and GET THE BADGE!!!! Thank you, wholeheartedly. after two and a half years of trying, I'm SO CLOSE to living my dream. And then: It's official! I passed the physical, psych, and background, and I start November 13, for the Dearborn Fire Department. Thanks to you and Rob again!! Ryan Capt. Bob, I want to thank you
for your products. I got hired by Council Bluffs Fire & Rescue in Iowa. I am
currently working for a smaller department in Glenwood, Iowa. Captain Bob, I just got hired with San Jose Fire. Your
Psych package was really helpful. Thanks for all the help and information. The call came!! Capt. Bob, I got the call from the human resource dept last night with my official job offer. After 13 months of hoops and hurdles I finally got the job of my dreams in my home town!!! Thank you so much for the material and advice throughout this process. I truly and honestly believe everything you made available put me over the top and got me to where I am today, the happiest guy in the world. Using the "nuggets" and practice helped me nail the oral and I would highly recommend the Psych report offered by you to ANYONE! Thanks again. Bill Benedict Springfield, IL Got the badge Captain Bob,I wanted to thank you for all your help and encouragement in getting into the career I wanted. Your skills and tactics do work. I got my badge in July and I owe a lot of it to your advise. Thank you, James I just wanted to say,"THANK YOU!" I finally got the badge! I have been testing for 10 years and you were right! Persistence paid off! I have watched many of my colleagues and friends give up on the process. In 2006, I got the job of my dreams thanks to your program. I am 1 month away from getting off probation with Santa Clara County Fire and I cannot thank you enough for the assistance that you have provided. Thanks so much. Sincerely, Daniel Santa Clara County Fire Department Captain Bob, It's taken me
a while to write you this, but for good reason. I got hired with a great
department and I have been going through their orientation/academy. This is my
last week before I start working shifts. More badges here: http://eatstress.com/testbest.htm
